Fergie Jenkins to be honoured with statue in hometown of Chatham

Starting next spring, you won’t have to drive to Wrigley Field to see a statue of Canadian baseball legend Fergie Jenkins. Darrin Canniff, the mayor of Chatham, Ont., Jenkins’ hometown, announced on Thursday that a full-size replica of the bronze statue of Jenkins outside of the Chicago Cubs’ home stadium has been gifted to his city and will arrive in April or May of 2023.

Green’s homer, Konings’ five hits lead Team Red to lopsided win

Catcher Jason Green (Georgetown, Ont.) hit the first home run of the Canadian Futures Showcase during the sixth inning against Team Royal Friday. Green’s homer on a fly ball to right field allowed teammates Noah Konings (Brampton, Ont.) and Ty Doucette (Dartmouth, N.S.) to also score. Team Red won the game 18-5.
