Langdon: Villeneuve runs Patriots, saves a Legion

Paul Villeneuve had an innovative idea to provide indoor winter training for his Ottawa Patriots youth players. His plan would also save the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 627 in Greely, Ont. from permanently closing during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic. But it soon turned out that it was Villeneuve (Ottawa, Ont.) who needed to be saved. Canadian Baseball Network contributor Scott Langdon shares Villeneuve’s story.

“The Olivet College Comets visited the Muskingum University Fighting Muskies in an NCAA Division III battle that had Olivet looking for their first win of the season March 17, after beginning the year 0-12.

Muskingum features two Canadian players, RHP Sheadon Sullivan (Elora, Ont.) and RHP Liam Carey (Georgetown, Ont.), with this being Sullivan’s first year at the New Concord, Ohio program while this is Carey’s junior campaign.”
