Oddly, the HarbourCats led the WCL in just about every offensive category but no hitter was voted to the first team -- nine of the 10 first-team position players were from the South Division. For the HarbourCats, shortstop Hudson Shupe (Gonzaga), catcher/first baseman Tyler Davis (Fresno State) -- who was top five in home runs, hits and RBIs -- made the second team, as did lefty Davis Franklin (Puget Sound), who was 2-1 with four saves and a 1.44 ERA.”

Welland Jackfish outfielder Hogan Brown (Virginia Beach, Va.) has been named the Intercounty Baseball League’s Batter of the Week, while Kitchener Panthers left-hander Yamichel Pérez (Sancti Spiritus, Cub.) has earned top pitcher honours.

The Okotoks Dawgs lost 12-9 to the Medicine Hat Mavericks in the second game of the Western Canadian Baseball League championship series on Wednesday. The best-of-three final is now deadlocked at one game apiece. The third-and-deciding game will be played at Seaman Stadium on Thursday.
