Good genes: “My mother, Kate was a state champion basketball player. My father, also named Kurt, played high school baseball and various sports growing up, My great grandpa on my Mom’s side attended Michigan State University playing baseball, football and was a wrestler. The Michigan State basketball arena named after him. My grandpa on my mom’s side, was a basketball player at Michigan State.”

The most influential people in your baseball life” “My parents. My parents have sacrificed a lot in their life to be extremely present and create the best opportunities for my brothers and I to succeed. I forever appreciate their love and belief in us. My mom spent countless hours at home raising us, caving to our endless baseball demands, while my dad has coached every single one of us -- Preston, Deegan and Dax == and all of our teams since we could first walk.”

The most influential person in your baseball career, besides my family: “I actually stepped away from the game of when I was 14. That’s when we moved over to Windsor. I played with the Tecumseh Rangers club for the fall of 2018 and summer 2019. Jeff Richer, coach of the team, played an instrumental role in helping me gain my confidence back, which ended up pushing me in the direction of seriously pursuing baseball. That season was a blast and gave me a newfound hope in baseball thanks to coach Richer. He allowed me to really shine in the roles that I loved growing up and watched pass by me as I grew older, including playing shortstop and pitching.”

Best day on the ball field: “When I moved back over to the Detroit area to finish high school, my team won the state championship in 2021. One of my best baseball memories.”

Favourite player when you discovered baseball: “Curtis Granderson.”

Favourite player today: “Tarik Skubal.”

Interested teams: “Can’t say specifically, but through talks with my advisor, I can say a handful are interested.”
