Dawgs defeat Giants in game 2 of series

OKOTOKS, Alta. _ The Okotoks Dawgs (31-14) bounced back in a big way, as they defeated the Fort McMurray Giants (16-31) by a score of 18-7 at Seaman Field.

It wasn’t until the sixth inning that the Dawgs became red hot, as eight runs came home to score for Okotoks. Elliot Cary (Oregon State University) hit his third home run of the year in the eighth inning scoring three runs in the process and finished the game with three runs, one hit and four RBIs. 

Justin King collected three hits.

Justin King (Dawgs Baseball Academy) was hitting the ball well, getting three hits and two RBIs. Michael Gretler (Oregon State University) saw the ball well at the plate, as both his hits were for doubles, he also had two runs and three RBIs. 

Joel Brophy (Burlington, Ont.) makes an entrance.

Joel Brophy (University of Niagara) was electric against the Giants, as he scored three runs, collecting two hits and an RBI. JT Patterson (Northeastern Junior College) had another good day at the plate, getting 2 doubles and 3 hits in total along with 3 runs and 2 RBIs.

CJ Lewington (University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff) picked up his sixth win of the year against the Giants, as he went seven innings while giving up 10 hits, 5 runs, no walks and 4 strikeouts. Michael Bucci (University of Niagara) and Bo Lewington (University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff) both pitched in relief.

The Dawgs finish their three-game series against the Fort McMurray Giants before turning their attention to the Medicine Hat Mavericks for the final regular season game at Seaman Stadium this year on the 29th of July.
