The Vauxhall 100

LHP Jay Johnson (Sussex Corner, NB) was in Vauxhall Academy's first graduating class, which hit the 100 mark ... without counting those who signed this fall.

In the fall of 2005 a pioneer named David Reiniger set out from Vauxhall 

It was a mere 84 years after the town was founded.

As the crow flies it was It was only 81 miles from Vauxhall to the Alberta-Montana border.

Reiniger (Calgary, Alta.) headed from the Vauxhall Jets program  to the University of Alabama Huntsville Chargers on a baseball scholarship.

He was the first player coach Les McTavish (Stettler, Alta.) and assistant Jim Kotkas (Lethbridge, Alta.) helped send south.

Vauxhall was the first Alberta academy. The south located north of Taber, south of Brooks and west of Medicine Hat proved to be fertile prairie land between Bow River and Oldman River. 

It begat Okotoks Dawgs, the Prospects Academy and the Badlands Acadmey.

And this fall McTavish, Kotkas and assistant Joel Blake helped sent RHP Brady Moxham (Oakville, Man.) Midland College Chaparrals ... No. 100.

They send Jets players to the next level from British Colombia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, New Brunswick and Alberta.
