Jupiter Day II: Van Rycheghem triples, singles vs. East Cobb

Luke Van Rycheghem (Kent Bridge) tripled and singled as the Ontario Blue Jays lost 6-1 to the East Cobb Yankees. The loss evened the Blue Jays record at the Perfect Game WWBA World Championship in Jupiter, Fla. at the spring home of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Miami Marlins.

The Ontario Blue Jays saw their record fall to 1-1-1 at the 17th annual 80-team tournament of the best high schoolers from across North America.

DH Bryce O’Farrell (Burlington) singled and knocked in a run, while LF Andrew Leggo (Waterloo, Ont.) and 2B Ethan Cummins (Mississauga) each had base hits. 

R.J. Freure (Burlington) took the loss pitching four innings and allowing three runs -- one earned -- on three hits and a walk. He fanned four.

Andrew Katz (Thornhill) had a scoreless outing.

Canada PG Gold lost 3-2 to the Orlando Scorpions in a game Brayden MacRae (Keswick) dominated. He pitched five scoreless allowing six hits while walking one and striking out two.

Jacob Newton (Oakville) tripled in a run, while Alex Jones (Bowmanville) singled and knocked in a run. Andres Gonzalez (Toronto) and Kurt Dawkins (Ajax). 

RHP Connor Williams (Mississauga) allowed three runs. 

Marlins Scout Team beat Canada PG Gold 6-3 with Avery Chenier (Georgetown) on the mound. Noah Naylor (Mississauga) and Sean McVeigh each singled in a run. Ryan Kula (Toronto) doubled. Reese O’Farrell (Burlington), Robbie Costa (Oakville) and Austin Wilkie (Mississauga).

The DBacks Langley Blaze lost 12-2 to the Florida Burn with Morgan Chaney (Kettering, Ohio) on the mound.
