CBN Draft Day 3: blog

A year ago today -- well the final day of the draft we were waiting not so patiently for the final pick of the 40th round. There was a matter or urgency ... George Strait's final concert was about to start across the road at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Tex.

Draft done we headed across the street to see the grand finale with guests Faith Hill, Martina McBride, Miranda Lambert, Cheryl Crowe, Allan Jackson, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Jason Aldeen, Asleep at the Wheel and some guy who looked like Vince Gill.

Julien Service (Sarnia, Ont.) from Howard College went went 1,188th over-all to the Chicago White Sox, the 17th Canadian selected.

And then it was off to hear King George and sadly his final song in concert.

No. 11 ... OF Brett Siddall (Windsor, Ont.) of Canisius went to the Oakland A's in the third round joining previously drafted teammates 3B Connor Panas (Etobicoke, Ont.) to the Jays and RHP Devon Stewart (Maple Ridge, BC) to the Cleveland Indians.
