A split record was in the cards for the Blue Jays’ affiliates, going 4-4 with a few very good pitching performances on the day.

Buffalo Bisons 2, Syracuse Chiefs 8
Matt Hague had an MVP-calibre game but Scott Copeland was rocked and the Bisons lost their series opener to Syracuse 8-2. Copeland only last 3 2/3 innings, allowing eight runs on ten hits despite not walking anyone and striking out four. Bobby Korecky returned from the DL to provide 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief while Colt Hynes and Ben Rowen each threw an inning without allowing a run.

Lansing Lugnuts 7, Kane County Cougars 12
Despite an early lead, the Lugnuts got pasted by Kane County, giving up 10 runs over the third and fourth innings. Starlyn Suriel wasn’t himself, allowing seven runs on 10 hits over 3 1/3 innings before being lifted due to injury. Colton Turner relieved him and allowed five runs (four earned) over 2 2/3 innings before Phil Kish finished the rain-shortened game with a scoreless seventh. Ryan McBroom provided offense with his seventh home run of the year, adding a double and scoring twice. Chris Carlson went 1/3 with a walk and a home run, driving in two while Alex Maldonado was 2/3 with two runs.

Vancouver Canadians 3, Hillsboro Hops 0
The combination of Jonathan Harris and newly promoted Angel Perdomo did a number on Hillsboro, limiting them to four hits and shutting them down completely. 2015 first-rounder Harris has not had a memorable turn to the pros so far but Friday night was one of his best outings for the Canadians. Harris went five innings, allowing four hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Perdomo, a 21-year-old Dominican with a 2.63 ERA in the Appalachian League, was utterly dominant, throwing four innings and just allowing one walk with seven strikeouts. The offense didn’t do much, getting just five hits of its own with Sean Hurley contributing with two singles, Ryan Metzler going 1/3 with a walk and an RBI and Ryan Hissey going 1/3 with an RBI and a run.

Player of the Game: Harris and Perdomo
