Semi-finals set, Baseball Canada championships, Day III

The round-robin wrapped up on Saturday at all three ongoing Baseball Canada Championships. Teams took the field looking to guarantee themselves a spot in the medal round on Sunday.

In Repentigny, Que. the semi-final match-ups at the 13U National Championship are now set with British Columbia to play Québec 1 at 11:00am ET and Ontario 3 to play the host team Lanaudière at 11:30am ET. The winners of those games will face off for gold at 6:30pm.

At the 15U Championship in Vaughan, Ont., Manitoba vs. Ontario and PEI vs. Québec are the two semi-final match-ups, both set for 11:30am. The winners will face off at 6:30pm for gold.

Québec will take on British Columbia at 10:00am and New Brunswick will face Ontario at 1:00pm in the semi-final games in Chatham, NB at the Senior Men Championship. The gold medal game is scheduled for 7:30pm at Ironmen field. All games at the Senior Men event can be streamed live here.

13U National Championship
Ontario (ON1) 11 Atlantic (PEI) 2 – Mitchell Bratt (Newmarket, Ont.) doubled and drove in two runs for Ontario in the win. Starter Brady Wagenhoffer (Newmarket, Ont.) earned the win going 6 1/3 innings allowing two run on six hits while striking out four.

Québec (QC2) 9 Alberta 4 – Xavier Lemieux-Morrissette (Outaouais, Que.) went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI while scoring four times. Starter Alastair Mitchell (Outaouais, Que.) tossed three hitless innings while striking out four.

Québec (QC1) 10 Ontario (ON3) 2 – Cédric De Granpré (Richelieu-Yamaska, Que.), David Vigneau-Lecomte (Sherbrooke, Que.) and Mathis Poutre (Richelieu-Yamaska, Que.) all homered in the win for Québec. Zachary Clavette (Boucherville, Que.) was impressive on the mound tossing a complete game allowing two runs on two hits while striking out seven.

Lanaudière 4 British Columbia 2 – William Lacroix (Laval, Que.) did his part on the mound and at the plate to lead the host team to the win over BC. Lacroix struck out eight over 6 2/3 innings allowing two runs on three hits while driving in two of his team’s four runs at bat.

Saskatchewan 13 Atlantic (PEI) 6 – Saskatchewan’s huge 10 run third inning put PEI in too big of a whole to climb out of. Jonah Bachiu (Regina, Sask.) drove in three and scored twice while starter Noah Kuntz earned the win on the mound allowing four runs over 4 2/3 innings.

Ontario (ON2) 11 Alberta 0 – Owen Dobosh (Brampton, Ont.) went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs while scoring twice to lead Ontario’s offensive production. Reliever Rowan Radzinski (Whitby, Ont.) earned the win striking out two over two perfect innings.

15U Championship
Ontario 6 Québec 5 – Varun Kuo (Mississauga, Ont.) drove went 2-for-3 scoring twice while Noah Naylor (Mississauga, Ont.) drove in two for Ontario. Reliever Cam Wilcox (Mississauga, Ont.) held Québec hitless over his inning on the mound to earn the win.

British Columbia 6 Vaughan 2 – Trey Sjerven (Sidney, BC) tossed a complete game for BC allowing no earned runs over seven innings while striking out seven in the win. Nico Ingebrand (Victoria, BC) went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Newfoundland 11 Alberta 10 – Cole Tucker (Mount Pearl, NL) went 3-for-5 with a double and a triple driving in three runs to lead Newfoundland’s offense. Starter Mason MacLeod (Conception Bay South, NL) earned the win on the mound allowing four runs on two hits over 3 1/3 innings.

Nova Scotia 7 Manitoba 4 – Dyton Blackett (Kentville, NS) went 2-for-3 with a double and scored once in the win. Starter Brandon MacKeigan (Lower Sackville, NS) allowed three runs on four hits over four innings on the mound.

PEI 13 Saskatchewan 11 – Chandler Laporte (Cornwall, PEI) doubled and drove in two while scoring once in PEI’s collective offensive effort. Starter Noah Duckworth (Sherwood, PEI) earned the win despite allowing five runs on four hits over 1 1/3 innings.

Ontario 6 New Brunswick 2 – Adam Hall (Mississauga, Ont.) pitched a complete game allowing no earned runs on four hits while striking out seven in the win. Blake Buckle (Milton, Ont.) doubled twice going 2-for-4 with two RBIs in the game.

PEI 7 British Columbia 6 – Connor McGregor (Sherwood, PEI) struck out eight over six innings earning the win for PEI. Eric Anderson (Charlottetown, PEI) went 2-for-3 driving in a run and scoring once to lead his team’s offensive production.

Senior Men Championship
Newfoundland 3 British Columbia 2 – Scott Goosney (St. John’s, NL) lasted a full seven innings on the mound allowing two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five in the pitcher’s duel. BC’s Lee Ingram was charged with the loss despite allowing only three hits over six innings and striking out six.

Ontario 4 New Brunswick 1 – Billy Martin’s (Mississauga, Ont.) performance on the mound helped Ontario to the win. Martin allowed no earned runs on five hits over seven innings while striking out six. Paul Lamantia (Tecumseh, ON) went 2-for-3 with a homerun and 2 RBIs.

Québec 7 Manitoba 0 – Jonathan Lussier (St-Jérome, Que.) went 2-for-3 with a home run and scored three times to lead Québec’s offensive production. Starter Maxime Lanthier earned the win tossing five scoreless innings.

British Columbia 2 Alberta 1 – Shawn Schaefer (Ridge Meadows, BC) outlasted Alberta’s starter Jake Hansen (Lethbridge, Alta.) in the pitcher’s duel allowing one run on three hits and two walks. Schaefer struck out none in the complete game.

Chatham 3 Newfoundland 0 – Reliever Robbie Murphy (Saint John, NB) earned the win shutting out Newfoundland over 4 innings giving up only 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out 3. Kris Keating (Miramichi, NB) drove in the go ahead run in the 3rd and later came around to score.

Ontario 17 Saskatchewan 5 – Kevin Mailloux (Tecumseh, Ont.), Paul Lamantia (Tecumseh, Ont.) and Mitch Delaney (Lasalle, Ont.) all homered in the lopsided victory. Starter Tyler Gauthier (Windsor, Ont.) earned the win allowing four runs on seven hits over three innings.

New Brunswick 4 Québec 2 – New Brunswick scored two in the top of the eighth to win it in extra innings. Aaron Johnson (Sussex, NB) went 3-for-4 with a homerun and two RBIs while reliever Troy Bishop (Fredericton, NB) earned the win shutting out Québec over two innings.

Alberta 10 Nova Scotia 0 – Alberta’s seven insurance runs in the fifth made the deficit too much for Nova Scotia ending the game. James Fischer (Edmonton, Alta.) shut out the opposition in the game allowing only three hits while striking out eight. Tommy Muhlethaler (Edmonton, Alta.) went 4-for-4 with a double and a home run driving in three.

Québec 7 Alberta 4 – Danny Deschamps (St-Jean, Que.) went 2-for-3 with a home run driving in three in the game to lead Québec’s offensive production. Michel Simard (Thetford-Mines, Que.) earned the win striking out 11 over a full 7 innings.

New Brunswick 3 Chatham 1 – Justin Cormier (Moncton, NB) went 2-for-3 scoring twice while Dillion Doucette (Peakes, PEI) drove in two in the game. Reliever Brody McDonald (Clyde River, PEI) earned the win shutting out the opposition over 3 1/3 innings.
