On Thursday, Baseball Canada held their draft for their “Road to Okotoks” national championship tournament that will take place from July 14 to July 19 in Okotoks, Alta.
Sixteen elite teams from across Canada have qualified to compete in the tourney, which is the first of its kind held by Baseball Canada.
Thursday’s draft offered players 19 years of age or younger (as of December 31, 2026), who are not on one of the qualified teams, to sign up and be eligible to be selected by one of the participating squads.
To be eligible for the draft, the player had to be a Canadian citizen or resident or “an active member of a Canadian baseball program.” Only three rostered players can be non-Canadian residents or citizens.
They also could not be an active member of a college or university program.
