Okotoks, Alta. – The Okotoks Dawgs kept rolling on the road on Thursday, defeating the Fort McMurray Giants 13–1 at Legacy Dodge Field.
The Dawgs strung together 12 hits over eight innings.
Offensively, the Dawgs were led by Jacob Wrubleski (Okotoks, Alta.), who went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, four RBIs, and two runs scored.
Cal Gates also went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBIs, while Nash Crowell (Yarmouth, N.S.) contributed two doubles, two runs, and two RBIs.
Reid Madriaga set the tone on the mound, starting and tossing five strong innings while allowing just one run and striking out four. Ty Johnson, Turner Zdunich (High River, Alta.) and Ryan Stone combined to keep the Giants off the board, closing out the game with scoreless relief appearances.
The Dawgs will look to continue their momentum on the road with two more games against the Giants and a matchup against the Energy City Cactus Rats before returning home for their highly anticipated Canada Day game at Seaman Stadium.
