Bello, Lussier help Dawgs to 10-3 win over 57's

The Okotoks Dawgs got a much-needed 10-3 win over the Swift Current 57’s in front of 5,222 fans at Seaman Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

This was also the Dawgs’ annual Breast Cancer Game, where fans raised over $38,000 bidding on pink game-worn Dawgs jerseys.

With the win, the Dawgs improved to 37-14 on the season and strengthened their lead atop the WCBL’s Western Division.

The Dawgs’ bats were led by Ayden Crouse who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs.

Jack Lussier (Okotoks, Alta.) also had a good day at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a walk and a pair of RBIs.

Matt Evans (Tillsonburg, Ont.) also went 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI.

On the mound, the Dawgs’ pitching was led by starter Jack Bello (Okotoks, Alta.), of the Dawgs Academy, who went five innings, allowing just two runs and striking out three.

Will Labonte (Montreal, Que.) had a solid relief outing, tossing a scoreless inning. Reid Madriaga did the same in the eighth.

The next game for the Dawgs is set for Tuesday against the Energy City Cactus Rats.
