The Toronto Blue Jays have claimed right-hander Matt Waldron off waivers from the San Diego Padres.

Waldron, 29, has gone 1-2 with a 7.16 ERA over 10 games (three starts) for the Padres this season, while posting a 1.33 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP over eight starts with San Diego’s triple-A squad in El Paso.

The Omaha, Neb., native was selected by Cleveland in the 18th round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft, eventually making his MLB debut for the Padres in 2023.

Across four seasons in San Diego, the 6-foot-2, 185-pound knuckleballer has suited up for 46 big league contests (36 starts), pitching to a 5.19 ERA and a 4.69 FIP with a 20.1% strikeout rate and a 6.8% walk rate.

Additionally, LHP Patrick Corbin has been transferred to the 60-day injured list.
