SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Winnipeg Goldeyes were one strike away from making history at Sioux Falls Stadium Thursday evening, only to suffer a heartbreaking 3-1, 11th inning loss to the Sioux Falls Canaries.

After Goldeyes starter James Bradwell (North Vancouver, B.C.), and Ryder Yakel combined to no-hit Sioux Falls through 10 2/3 innings, the league’s all-time home run record holder Jabari Henry hit a three-run shot to right field on a 3-2 pitch to end the game.

Winnipeg had taken a 1-0 lead in the top of the 11th on a Kevin García sacrifice fly to centre field that brought in courtesy runner Matthew Warkentin (Windsor, Ont.).

Bradwell went 10 innings, striking out four and walking five. He threw 111 pitches. Yakel pitched the final 1 2/3 innings, allowing three runs – two earned – on one hit. He fanned one and walked one.

Will Levine entered in the 10th for Sioux Falls and surrendered an unearned run without giving up a hit. He struck out one batter.
