OTTAWA, ONT. – Baseball Canada is proud to congratulate Owen Caissie (Burlington, Ont.) and Jonah Tong (Markham, Ont.) on their selections to the 2025 XM Futures Game, set for Saturday, July 12 at 4 p.m. ET at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia, as part of Major League Baseball’s All-Star Week festivities.
Caissie, an outfielder in the Chicago Cubs organization and Junior National Team graduate (2020), is enjoying a standout 2025 season with triple-A Iowa. He has launched 12 home runs, including a 449-foot blast on June 15 to straightaway centre field - his third homer in as many games - and currently holds a .876 OPS. A member of Canada’s 2023 World Baseball Classic roster, Caissie was also named to the 2024 Futures Game but did not appear in the contest due to injury.
Tong, a right-handed pitcher in the New York Mets system, has been dominant for the double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies, posting a 6–3 record, 1.73 ERA, 115 strikeouts, and 0.92 WHIP over 73 innings. His highlights include a 13-strikeout performance as part of a combined perfect game - the first in Binghamton’s 33-year history.
