Official Hamilton Cardinals News Release
HAMILTON, ONT. – The Hamilton Cardinals are excited to announce the re-signing of right-handed pitcher Owen Boon for the 2026 season.
A London, Ont., native, Boon played for the Western Mustangs of the U SPORTS’ OUA Conference from 2013–2016.
Now entering his 10th season in the Canadian Baseball League, Boon spent the first eight years of his career with the London Majors, establishing himself as one of the league’s premier starting pitchers. Over his regular season career, Boon has a 39-11 record with 454 2/3 innings pitched, 540 strikeouts, and a 2.87 ERA.
Boon joined the Hamilton Cardinals for the 2025 season and made an immediate impact, becoming just the second player in franchise history to earn the league’s MVP award, the John Bell Memorial Trophy. His standout 2025 campaign was highlighted by throwing the CBL’s first nine-inning no-hitter since 1977, as he delivered 111 pitches in an 18–0 victory in Kitchener. Boon finished the season with a 6-1 record across 11 starts, pitching 70 innings while striking out 88 and recording a 1.80 ERA.
Boon is a two-time Dominico Cup Champion (‘21, ‘22), a one-time League MVP (‘25), and a three-time All-Star (‘21, ‘23, ‘25).
