HAMILTON, ONT. – The Hamilton Cardinals are excited to announce the signing of catcher Evan Magill for the 2026 season.

A native of Ajax, Ont., Magill graduated from Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School before committing to Monroe Community College, an NJCAA Division II program in Rochester, N.Y.

Over two collegiate seasons with the Tribunes, Magill appeared in 84 games and posted an impressive .355/.461/.604 slash line. His standout 2021 campaign saw him record a .722 slugging percentage while hitting nine home runs in just 39 games.

Magill later transferred to Tennessee Wesleyan University, an NAIA program competing in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. From 2022 to 2024, he appeared in 172 games for the Bulldogs, slashing .346/.433/.530 with 20 home runs. Magill was instrumental in helping Tennessee Wesleyan to the finals of the 2024 NAIA World Series.

In 2025, Magill suited up for the Kendal Eagles of the Greater Toronto Baseball League, with a strong .413/.479/.825 slash line in 2025. When called upon, Magill also showed off his arm strength as a pitcher for Kendal, striking out 26 batters over 23 innings with a 3.47 ERA. At year’s end, he was named League MVP and secured the batting title.

Magill is expected to be the Hamilton Cardinals starting catcher in 2026.
