Official London Majors News Release

The London Majors are proud to announce the signing of shortstop Kevin Vicuña for the 2026 Canadian Baseball League season.

Vicuña, 27, brings a wealth of experience to London, having spent 10 seasons in professional baseball across multiple organizations, including the Toronto Blue Jays, Philadelphia Phillies and Arizona Diamondbacks systems.

The Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela native has competed at nearly every level of affiliated baseball, reaching triple-A with the Buffalo Bisons in 2021, double-A with the Reading Fightin Phils in 2022, and double-A with the Amarillo Sod Poodles in 2023.

Most recently, Vicuña has continued his professional career internationally, suiting up for Los Tigres de Quintana Roo in Mexico and the Caribes de Anzoátegui in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League, further adding to an already impressive and diverse resume.

A right-handed hitter, Vicuña is a natural shortstop who has expanded his versatility in recent years, playing every position on the field except catcher. Over eight minor league seasons, he owns a .262 career batting average, collecting 82 doubles, 23 triples, 11 home runs, and 91 stolen bases.

Vicuña’s pedigree has long been recognized at the prospect level. He was named a Midseason All-Star in 2018 with the Lansing Lugnuts, hitting .266 with 16 doubles, six triples, and two home runs. That same year, he was ranked the No. 23 prospect in the Blue Jays organization by MLB Pipeline, and followed it up with a No. 30 organizational ranking by FanGraphs in 2019.

“Kevin is a plus defender with exceptional range, and he brings a rare combination of bat-to-ball skills and plus speed to our lineup,” said Majors Field Manager Roop Chanderdat. “He’s primarily a shortstop, but his ability to play both the infield and outfield gives us tremendous versatility. He has big-league talent and all the tools of an MLB player. We can’t wait for him to come in and have an All-Star caliber season.”
