Official Toronto Maple Leafs News Release

TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs have re-signed infielder Mike Cecchetto for the upcoming 2026 season.

Cecchetto (Toronto, Ont.), who spent parts of the last two seasons dawning a Maple Leafs uniform, is set to enter his eighth year in the league with Toronto in 2026.

Prior to an injury-shortened season in 2025, the 28-year-old posted outstanding numbers in 2024 after arriving from Guelph - hitting .393 (11-for-28) in 10 regular season games with a home run and five RBIs. He then went 4-for-11 with two home runs in three games in a playoff series against his former team, the Barrie Baycats.

A 2018 debut with Toronto, followed by spells in Hamilton, Barrie and Guelph, has led Cecchetto back to the Maple Leafs as the club’s first re-signing this offseason.

The powerful righty has also spent time coaching with Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson) Men's Baseball Team (OUA) and is one of a number of former Humber Hawks (OCAA) to appear in the CBL.
