The Okotoks Dawgs fell in heartbreaking fashion to the Fort McMurray Giants on Thursday night, dropping a 7–6 decision after surrendering a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth at Legacy Dodge Field.

With the loss the Dawgs fall to 24-12 on the season, but they remain a game-and-a-half ahead of the Lethbridge Bulls and Sylvan Lake Gulls in the West Division standings.

Despite the loss, several Dawgs hitters had productive nights. Eric Machej (Okotoks, Alta.) went 2-for-4 out of the two-hole.

Nash Crowell (Yarmouth, N.S.) chipped in with two RBIs, while Jake Skaggs (Pittsburgh State University) added a run-scoring hit to help the Dawgs build an early lead.

On the mound, starter Gavin Wuschke (Regina, Sask.) battled through 4 2/3 innings, giving up four runs on seven hits while striking out two.

The Dawgs look to bounce back on Friday as they are set to battle the Giants again.
