Okotoks Dawgs

Okotoks, Alta. – The offence was rolling early and often for the Okotoks Dawgs on Father’s Day as they toppled the Moose Jaw Miller Express 10-2 in front of 6,234 fans on Sunday afternoon at Seaman Stadium.

Cal Gates led the way for the Dawgs at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two walks, and an RBI in his return from the injured list. Connor Crowson (Okotoks, Alta.) and Jordan Kievman each belted a home run. Crowson went 3-for-5 with an RBI, while Kievman was a triple short of the cycle, going 3-for-4 and driving in a pair of runs.

The Dawgs pitching was spearheaded by ace starter Tyson Willis, who threw five strong innings, allowing just two runs and striking out three while picking up the win.

The bullpen once again came in and shut things down. Today it was Wyatt Sadleir (Calgary, Alta.), Reid Madariaga and Brody Forno (Okotoks, Alta.) who were dominant in the win, striking out six in a combined four scoreless innings.

It was, indeed, a very happy Father’s Day at the ballpark. The Dawgs will play their next home game Tuesday night when they welcome the Brooks Bombers. First pitch Tuesday is set for 7:05 p.m.
