Dawgs' season ends with loss to Gulls

Okotoks, Alta. – The Okotoks Dawgs’ season came to an end on Wednesday night when they lost 9-8 to the Sylvan Lake Gulls at Gulls Stadium.

With the win, the Gulls won the best-of-three series 2-0.

They Dawgs fell just short of a remarkable comeback in this contest. They were trailing 8-2 after three innings and rallied to tie the game until the Gulls pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the eighth.

The Dawgs’ bats were led by Nash Crowell (Yarmouth, N.S.) who went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a run.

Jordan Kievman had another good night at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three runs, while Jacob Wrubleski (Okotoks, Alta.) added a hit and three RBIs.

On the mound, the Dawgs’ pitching was led by Reid Madriaga who struck out five in 4 2/3 scoreless innings in relief.

Dalton Hoffart also had an excellent relief outing, tossing a huge scoreless inning to calm things down after the Gulls got up early.

The Dawgs are grateful to all of their fans for the incredible support shown all season and can’t wait for next summer.
