The Okotoks Dawgs turned up the heat at the plate on Sunday afternoon, exploding for 10 runs to take down the Lethbridge Bulls 10–7.
The game was anything but ordinary, as the Dawgs combined timely hitting, disciplined plate appearances, and clutch relief pitching to notch their latest win.
Offensively, it was a balanced attack with contributions up and down the lineup. Nate Crowell (Yarmouth, N.S.) delivered the most significant blow of the night, going 2-for-5 with four RBIs, including a three-run shot that tied the game. Right behind him, Barry Eiseman (Reinhardt University) was a model of consistency, posting a 3-for-4 performance with an RBI and keeping the Dawgs’ offence rolling from the middle of the order.
Ricky Sanchez (Pittsburg State University) made his presence felt in a big way, scoring three runs and drawing five walks in a disciplined, patient performance that set the tone early and often.
Ayden Crouse (Chandler Gilbert CC) chipped in with a two-RBI hit, while Jason Arriola (CSU-Pueblo) came up clutch with a run-scoring hit of his own.
On the mound, Cade Langford (Southwest Baptist University) went five innings and struck out three batters. The bullpen shut the door the rest of the way, highlighted by Okotoks native Nate Charlton’s clean seventh inning and a perfect eighth from Frank Flores. Alex Oliver closed things out in the ninth despite some late pressure, securing the Dawgs' hard-earned win.
With the victory, the Dawgs look ahead to their next matchup on Monday in Brooks, Alta., where they will face the Bombers. The Dawgs return to Seaman Stadium on Tuesday to face the Bulls again.
