CHATHAM, ONT. – The North All-Stars scored four runs in the last three innings of Sunday’s 8-4 win in the Canadian Baseball League All-Star Game at Fergie Jenkins Field in Chatham.
All-star game Most Valuable Player Canice Ejoh went 4-for-5 and scored three times in the win. The Barrie Baycats outfielder also stole a base.
Noel McGarry Doyle, Ejoh’s teammate, drove in two runs on a pair of ground outs and also had two hits. Kitchener’s Petey Kiefer doubled home a run, while Barrie’s Wandy Ciprian and Hamilton’s Tyler Duncan, the home run derby champion, both hit solo homers.
Toronto’s Nick Veselinovic earned the win in relief. He allowed an unearned run in the sixth inning. Barrie right-hander Frank Garces started on the mound and gave up three runs on three hits with two walks and a strikeout in an inning.
London second baseman Cristian Inoa hit a two-run home run for the South All-Stars. Chatham’s Austin Gurney singled, doubled and drove in a run, and London’s Trent Lenihan added an RBI.
London’s Dustin Davidson gave up an unearned run in an inning of relief to take the loss. Welland’s Ben Abram started and was charged with three runs on three hits in two innings. He walked one and struck out three.
