The Ottawa Titans opened August with a commanding 9-2 win over the Brockton Rox on Saturday night, powered by three long balls and stellar pitching.

Evan Grills (Whitby, Ont.) got the start for the Titans, picking up his third quality start in five appearances. Grills tossed six innings, giving up two runs on eight hits, not walking a batter, and striking out four.

The Titans got on the board first as AJ Wright scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the first.

In the third, Jackie Urbaez doubled and Myles Smith singled to extend the lead. Hunter Stokely singled to put two on, and Caleb Burr sent a 427-foot tank of a three-run homer onto Coventry Road to make it 5-0. Burr now has two long balls this series, the first two of his professional career.

The Titans hit back-to-back home runs for the second time in over a week in the fourth. Daniel McElveny launched his fifth long ball of the season, his first at home, and Austin Gurney (Campbell River, B.C.) followed with his first professional home run to make it 7-0.

Rox starter Zach Eldred's day ended in the fourth after 3 1/3 innings, allowing seven runs on nine hits, including three home runs, walking one, and striking out two.

The Rox finally got to Grills in the fifth, as a hit by pitch, double, and a pair of singles brought in two runs.

The Titans answered right back, adding two more in the sixth as Thomas Ferroggiaro delivered a two-run single with the bases loaded to restore the seven-run lead.

Ted Stuka tossed a hitless seventh, allowing just one walk, and Yohanse Morel pitched two clean innings to close out the game.

Jackie Urbaez, AJ Wright, and Hunter Stokely each picked up two-hit games. Caleb Burr, Daniel McElveny, and Austin Gurney each went deep, and Myles Smith went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and a walk.

With the victory, the Titans have won the season series over the Rox, taking seven of the first eight contests. The Titans are now unbeaten in eight-straight series. The club is also 10 games over the .500 mark for the first time since the 2024 season.

The Ottawa Titans finish a seven-game homestand with the finale of a three-game series against the Brockton Rox on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at Ottawa Stadium.
