Official Barrie Baycats News Release

Barrie, Ont. — The Barrie Baycats have announced the return of outfielder Clayton Keyes, a native of Calgary, Alta., for his second season with the club.

Keyes brings a diverse baseball background that includes professional, collegiate, and international experience. He was selected in the MLB draft twice out of high school, first by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2016 and again by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2017. That same year, he was also a member of the Junior National Team.

Collegiately, Keyes played for the Southeastern Fire, where he was part of the program’s NAIA Baseball World Series championship team in 2022.

Keyes returns to Barrie after joining the Baycats for the second half of the 2025 season following time with the Evansville Otters of the independent Frontier League. He appeared in 35 games for the Baycats across the regular season and playoffs, recording seven extra-base hits.

In addition to his time in Barrie, Keyes has competed in the Intercounty Baseball League with the Hamilton Cardinals during the 2023 season. He has also played parts of two seasons in the Western Canadian Baseball League, suiting up for both the Okotoks Dawgs and the Yorkton Cardinals.

Keyes returns to the Baycats following his first extended tenure with the club in 2025.
