Ward's three hits lead Canadian Premier to win over A3

Jack Ward (Paris, Ont.) collected three hits in four at bats, as Canadian Premier Underclass defeated A3 Academy 15-10 on Tuesday in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Ward notched singles in the second, eighth inning and ninth inning. Both offences were strong at the plate as Canadian Premier Underclass collected 16 hits and A3 12 in the high-scoring affair.

A3 got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after an RBI ground out. A3 extended the lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the second inning. A3 extended their early lead with four runs in the bottom of the third.

Canadian Premier Underclass tied the game in the top of the eighth thanks to a single by Ward, and a double by Juan Cruz (Mississauga, Ont.). Canadian Premier Underclass flipped the game on its head in the top of the ninth, scoring five runs on three hits to take the lead, 15-10.

Cameron Tully (Mississauga, Ont.) started the game and surrendered three hits and three runs (two earned) over two innings, striking out three and walking one.

Evan Wallace (Oakville, Ont.), Finn McLean (Nepean, Ont.), Brett Crowley (Peterborough, Ont.), Aaron Monterroza (Brantford, Ont.) each threw scoreless innings. The offence piled up 16 hits in the game. Alex Kuypers (Kawartha Lakes, Ont.) and Ward each collected three hits. Cruz went 1-for-1 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Raphael Besancon (Boucherville, Que.) collected two hits in five at bats.
