All 12 WCBL teams will be in action during Opening Weekend on Friday, May 29th and Saturday, May 30th.

The final day in May features West Division afternoon games between the Lethbridge Bulls and Okotoks Dawgs at Seaman Stadium, as well as the Energy City Cactus Rats at Legacy Dodge Field in Fort McMurray for a tilt against the Giants. The Sylvan Lake Gulls welcome the Brooks Bombers for a 7:05 p.m. game on May 31. In the East Division, the first Sunday slate features the Mavericks facing the Red Sox in Regina, and the Weyburn Beavers in Saskatoon for a matchup against the Berries.

“We’re incredibly excited to announce the 2026 schedule. It promises special days and nights at the ballpark, as well as the thrill of competition between intense rivals as teams chase down playoff spots,” said WCBL President Kevin Kvame.

“We cannot wait to see the best fans in baseball return to our ballparks.”

Added Kvame: "The WCBL schedule is a collaboration of our 12 franchises working together to provide exciting family friendly entertainment throughout the summer. They meticulously look to secure dates for their many promotions and events, which fans have come to love throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan."

SPECIAL DATES

Father's Day, which is always an exceptional time at the ballpark, takes place on Sunday, June 21st. A dozen WCBL squads will step between the lines to help celebrate dads across Alberta and Saskatchewan that afternoon. The Bulls are at the Gulls; the Miller Express visit the Dawgs in Okotoks; the Mavericks will meet up with the Bombers at Elks Field in Brooks; the Giants travel to Spruce Grove for a matchup against the Energy City Cactus Rats; the 57's are in Saskatoon to face the Berries; and the Weyburn Beavers hit the road for Saskatchewan's capital and a game against the Red Sox.

One of the most popular days on the schedule is Canada Day, which takes place on Wednesday, July 1st. Nationwide celebrations will include WCBL games in Western Canada.

Spitz Stadium in Lethbridge highlights Canada Day action, with the Bulls day/night doubleheader, a tradition since 2009. The Fort McMurray Giants pay a visit to lock horns with their cattle-inspired counterparts.

Also happening on July 1st, the Brooks Bombers are at NexGen Patch at Cairns Field to play the Saskatoon Berries, while West Division foes will hit the diamond at Seaman Stadium for a battle between the Sylvan Lake Gulls and Okotoks Dawgs. Competition also includes a Mavericks-Miller Express matchup at Ross Wells Park in Moose Jaw and an all-Saskatchewan affair between the Swift Current 57's and the Red Sox at Currie Field. Rounding out the maple leaf magic is a game between the Weyburn Beavers and Energy City Cactus Rats in Spruce Grove.

All-Star Weekend moves from Okotoks to Saskatoon this year, where the Berries will play host to the top players from around the WCBL on Saturday, July 18th and Sunday, July 19th.

The WCBL All-Star Game and Home Run Derby have traditionally taken place in a single day but in cooperation with the WCBL, the Berries will be hosting the league’s first ever two-day event.

“The Western Canadian Baseball League is excited to come to Saskatchewan for the first time in this era and more specifically, the great City of Saskatoon,” said Kvame.

“The Berries have proven to be the innovative, dynamic, and engaged franchise that we expected of them, and we are thrilled to work with their vision for a fantastic 2026 All-Star Weekend.”

Tyler Wawryk, vice-president of business operations with the Berries, added: “Our goal is to include our fans and community into the event, and to also create a full festival environment for the weekend. We have some exciting things in the works and as we get closer, we’ll be able to share more details."

Another exciting and new event to watch for this year is The Road to Okotoks, a Baseball Canada national championship that features top-notch competition between the country's best amateur academy programs.

Beginning with regional qualifiers from May 28-31, the field will be narrowed to 16 teams for elite tournament play in Okotoks from July 14-19. The winning team of players who are 19 years old or younger will hoist the Morneau Cup, which is named after Canadian Baseball Hall of Famer Justin Morneau (New Westminster, B.C.). This event provides an excellent opportunity for baseball fans to see the WCBL stars of tomorrow, as many pitchers and hitters from this event will find a home in the summer collegiate league in the future.

"The Road to Okotoks is going to be prime territory for the franchises in the WCBL to see up and coming Canadian talent that should consider our league for bettering themselves in upcoming summers," said Kvame.

"The WCBL is excited to play a role in showcasing our league to these athletes this summer, with league games set for Lethbridge at the Prairie Qualifier and at Okotoks during the National Championship."

The Bulls host the Brooks Bombers at Spitz Stadium on May 28th and the Swift Current 57's on May 29th. This will provide an opportunity for Prairie Qualifier competitors to see WCBL games live and in person. Athletes who qualify for the final in Okotoks will also be able to watch the Dawgs host the Medicine Hat Mavericks for a Seaman Stadium matinee on July 14th, as well as an evening contest against the Bulls on July 18th.

CHAMPIONSHIP REMATCH

The Regina Red Sox were embroiled in a thrilling head-to-head series with the Sylvan Lake Gulls in the best-of-three 2025 WCBL championship.

The Red Sox emerged as the top team on the circuit after they were down to their last out and their final strike while trailing by two runs in the ninth inning of Game 2. Regina clawed their way back, tied the contest, and went on to win consecutive games for their first title win since 2012.

When the Red Sox lifted the Harry Hallis Memorial Trophy at Gulls Field, it was a bitter and stunning denial for Sylvan Lake fans who were ready to embrace their first WCBL championship in franchise history.

The wait continues for those baseball boosters in central Alberta, but the Gulls will look to exact a measure of revenge when the Red Sox return to Sylvan Lake for game action on Friday, July 24th at 7:05 p.m.

Both clubs will part ways for a few days before renewing hostilities again Wednesday, July 29th at Gulls Field.

Those two dates mark the only scheduled games between the East Division and West Division champs in 2026.

POSTSEASON PUSH

The final night of the WCBL regular season takes place on Wednesday, Aug. 5th. All 12 teams will take the field that day.

The Bombers and Bulls will bookend their season the way both teams started it, with an evening game at Spitz Stadium in Lethbridge.

Seaman Stadium will set the stage for a matchup between the Dawgs and the Energy City Cactus Rats.

Another West Division clash will see the Fort McMurray Giants travel to Sylvan Lake for a game against the Gulls.

In Saskatchewan, the Berries will host the Moose Jaw Miller Express at NexGen Patch at Cairns Field in Saskatoon.

Elsewhere in the East Division, the Red Sox will welcome the Weyburn Beavers to Currie Field for a final time, and the Mavericks will look for a win over the Swift Current 57's at Mitchell Field.

There are a total of 336 regular-season games scheduled for the 2026 WCBL campaign. Each team will play 56 games ahead of the playoffs.

The Western Canadian Baseball League postseason gets underway on Friday, Aug. 7th.

The 12-team WCBL consists of an East Division and a West Division, each of which has six teams. The top four teams from each division will qualify for the playoffs.

Conference semi-final series will open the postseason and run from Aug. 7-9, followed by conference finals, which start on Aug. 11th and go through Aug. 13th. Those matchups are both best-of-three series.

The WCBL Championship Finals will pit the best team in the West Division against the top squad in the East Division for the right to lift the Harry Hallis Memorial Trophy. This is also a best-of-three series. The championship series is set to begin on Aug. 15th.
