Région Mauricie captures 2021 Baseball Canada Event Recognition Award

Considering the impact that COVID-19 had on baseball events in 2020, the Canadian baseball community was anxious to provide tournament baseball once again in 2021. With the pandemic still impacting the way in which tournaments are delivered it took extraordinary efforts from baseball volunteers to host events in their communities. The Région Mauricie was one such group that took on this challenge in 2021 and their team took on the monumental task of delivering a first-class “Provincial A Championships” for over 75 teams last summer.

Quebec’s Tanya Millette to attend Professional Umpire School

Baseball Canada umpire Tanya Millette has professional baseball umpiring aspirations and will attend the prestigious Wendelstedt Umpire School in Florida early in 2022 after receiving news from Major League Baseball’s Umpire Program that she’s set to receive a bursary to attend. The announcement came via Baseball Québec where Millette is a member of their High-Performance Umpire Program.

Kozar, Chee-Aloy, Pinkney propel Canada Red to win at juniors Fall camp

Rees Kozar (Amhertburg, Ont.) belted a fifth inning, three-run homer to lead a 12-hit attack for Canada Red as they went on to defeat Canada Grey, 11-2. The Red offence was firing on all cylinders with several players making an impact at the plate including Cameron Chee-Aloy (Toronto, Ont.) who smacked a pair of doubles and a triple while Hugh Pinkney (Toronto, Ont.) collected three hits and drove in two runs.
