R.I.P. Jim Welsh

Jim Welsh of Windsor, Ontario was so talented at baseball in the 1940s that teams in other parts of Ontario found out about him and wanted him on their team. He passed away on February 11 in Port Hope on the first day many pitchers and catchers reported for spring training.

Nanaimo to join West Coast League for 2021 season

West Coast League baseball is landing in Nanaimo. The summer collegiate baseball league, which currently has 12 teams including Canadian entries in Victoria and Kelowna, will see Nanaimo become the 13th WCL team when the to-be-named club starts calling Serauxmen Stadium home beginning in June of 2021.

Teeple launches non-profit baseball organization

Canadian Baseball Network contributor and former pro pitcher Devon Teeple has launched ignite CHANGE, a non-profit community organization specifically tailored to playing baseball the right way by integrating components of leadership, attitude, and behaviours. He will run clinics that not only educate but also provide building blocks for amateur, collegiate, and professional athletes (pre/post-retirement) who are struggling with mental health issues to grow and turn the experience into something positive.

Terriers headed to Florida for 15th straight year

The Ontario Terriers are headed to Florida for spring training for the 15th consecutive year. Over the past decade and a half, the Terriers have spent ‎a week at several different venues and competed again some of the top Florida high schools, NCAA DII, NJCAA DI + II and NAIA programs in the country.
