The Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Academy will host its 12th annual Canadian Futures Showcase presented by Rogers from September 17 to 20 in Vancouver.

Since its inaugural tournament in 2013, the Canadian Futures Showcase has invited the top 150 amateur baseball players each year to demonstrate their skills to Major League Baseball scouts and college recruiters, becoming the premier amateur tournament across the country.

The Canadian Futures Showcase will be held at Rogers Field at Nat Bailey Stadium in Vancouver this year, due to scheduling conflicts in Toronto at Rogers Centre. This is the first time the Showcase will take place outside of Ontario.

“The Blue Jays remain deeply committed to growing the game of baseball in Canada and supporting the next generation of Canadian homegrown talent,” said Mark Shapiro, president & CEO, Toronto Blue Jays. “The Canadian Futures Showcase has long been a proving ground for young athletes pursuing their academic and athletic dreams, and we are inspired each year by the number of alumni who advance to the professional ranks.”

The showcase splits 150 players evenly between six teams to compete against each other in a tournament-style format, concluding with a home run derby and prospects game on the final day. Players were selected through a series of open tryouts and in-person evaluations that ran nationally throughout the spring and summer. The rosters and coaches for each team will be announced on August 17.

The Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Academy looks to build on the historic success of the tournament. Since 2013, 192 former Canadian Futures Showcase participants have been drafted by Major League Baseball organizations, with more than 1,100 receiving college scholarships.

Notable Showcase alumni include Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Adam Macko (Stony Plain, Alta.); Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Mike Soroka (Calgary, Alta.); Seattle Mariners first baseman Josh Naylor (Mississauga, Ont.); Cleveland Guardians catcher Bo Naylor (Mississauga, Ont.); Miami Marlins outfielder Owen Caissie (Burlington, Ont.), Seattle Mariners pitcher Matt Brash (Kingston, Ont.), and Oakland Athletics outfielder Denzel Clarke (Pickering, Ont.).
