The Canadian Baseball League announced a trio of awards from the 2026 regular season.
Hamilton’s Luis Bernardo won the Troy May Memorial Trophy for Manager of the Year. Bernardo led the Cardinals to a 31-17 record and their first pennant in franchise history.
Bernardo is the first Cards skipper since Dean Castelli in 2019 to win the award named after the former field manager of the Oshawa Dodgers.
Hamilton’s Hector Yan earned the Ted Earley Memorial Trophy awarded to the pitcher with the lowest earned-run average. The 27-year-old Dominican posted a 2.60 ERA after allowing 21 earned runs in 72 2/3 innings. He went 7-1 over 15 games (14 starts), struck out 112 and walked 31.
Yan became the second straight Hamilton pitcher to win the award after Owen Boon won in 2025.
Kitchener’s Malik Williams (Toronto, Ont.) won the Reid Buck Memorial Trophy, which is awarded to the player with the highest batting average. Williams hit .417 after collecting 68 hits in 163 at bats in his first season with the Panthers after four campaigns in Barrie.
He finished seven points ahead of Toronto’s Yasiel Puig.
