The Ottawa Champions have re-signed reigning Can-Am pitcher of the year Jordan Kurokawa to a one-year contract.

Phillippe Aumont (Gatineau, Que.) will start the opener for the independent Can-Am League’s Ottawa Champions on Friday.

The independent Can-Am League’s Ottawa Champions are doing their part to help support those affected by the devastating spring flooding in their region in recent weeks.

Among the players in the independent Can-Am League Ottawa Champions training camp this spring is Eduard Pinto, a Venezuelan outfielder who spent last season with the Toronto Blue Jays organization. Pinto arrived in Ottawa early Friday morning after a number of flight delays getting out of Venezuela. He experienced the civil unrest taking place in Venezuela first hand on his way to Ottawa.

Leonardo Reginatto, who represented Brazil at the 2013 World Baseball Classic and who is coming off an arm injury that curtailed his 2018 season, was thrilled to be an active participant Monday, the first day of the independent Can-Am League’s Ottawa Champions training camp.
